Remote Work vs. Digital Nomad
You’re going to see the terms Remote Worker and Digital Nomad a lot on this site, and you’re likely going to say to yourself “But Liz! Aren’t these the same things??”
I’m so glad you asked.
No. They aren’t!
Allow me to break it down for you:
Working Remotely means plain and simply, working from home. You have a home base that you stick to and you make the day to day choice to venture from home to go and work in a coffee shop, or a co-working space, or a park or where ever your little remote heart desires.
When you are a Digital Nomad you are taking all of the pressure of working remotely and throwing it in with the stress of having no home base and having to re-establish yourself in a new place frequently. You have to be able to keep up your quality of work while also having to regularly finding a place to live, buy food and work. Can it be done? Yes, absolutely. Do most people do a good job of it? No. It’s very difficult to sustain
My hope for this blog is to provide you with tips to help you succeed as either a remote worker or a digital nomad- or both! I am also a strong believer in having a good work/ life balance and when you work from home it can be difficult to separate the two- if you’re like me you can easily end up working all the time, but it can also be easy to get distracted.
No need to worry. Don’t get discouraged. I’m here to help. Together we will build a community of strong, productive, happy remote workers and digital nomads!
